WELCOME
Our laboratory is currently at the Institute for Functional Biology & Genomics, a joint research institute of CSIC and the University of Salamanca, in beautiful Salamanca, Spain. The lab was launched in 2013 at The Rowland Institute at Harvard, moving to the Microbial Sciences Institute and the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Yale University in 2016, and finally to CSIC in 2022. Our work lies at the interface between systems biology and microbial community ecology and evolution. We seek to develop strategies for the optimization of microbial consortia, through a combination of theory and experiments, and by bringing ideas and methods from population genetics into functional ecology. More broadly, we are interested in understanding how biological teams work, how collective function emerges from the contribution of each component and their interactions.
